Saint Helena Island

Saint Helena, abandoned in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, is one of the most remote inhabited corners of our globe.

The capital and the only city on the island is Jamestown, located in a deep valley, inhabited by about 3000 inhabitants. One of its main attractions is the so-called Jakubowa Ladder – a steep, 183-meter staircase leading to the fort rising on the hill above the city.

Despite the cellular network that has existed for several years, not many island inhabitants have a cell phone.

Boats that sometimes call into port, set the pace of life on the island and provide everything that residents need. From fuel for food, furniture, medicine, clothes to vehicles. Goods are imported by sea via Cape Town and are always much awaited.

It is true that there has been an airport on the island for several years, but the landing strip, strong wind blowing, can make you nauseous.

Interestingly, Napoleon Bonaparte was sent to this island and stayed here until his death.

Why is it worth coming here?

Picturesque green hills, steep volcanic peaks, meadows falling straight into the sea, Napoleon’s house, lush green vegetation …
And complete isolation from civilization, is the reason why you should spend a few days in this amazing place.
